So I have finally submitted my application for unemployment insurance claim benifit. Mind you it was a breeze. For in this age of electronic filing, you do not need to line up for an interview with an available counselor (there is always a shortage of them in government offices), instead you get an interview with a computer.
Conveniently, you could do this at the comfort of your home. The only advantage in doing it at a Service Canada office is that there is somebody to assist you when confronted with a challenging question.
The application takes 14 days to get processed so again a lot of belt tightening would be needed.
Next stop was an Employment Counselor at Whalley Employment Resource Center, Central City shopping Center, Surrey, to assess my options. I got a 9:00 AM appointment for Monday, November 9, 2008.
